Autumn is here, Christmas only round the corner...

Autumn is well and truly upon us - the darker mornings, darker evenings and change in weather. What does the change in season mean for you ? Do you prefer the autumn/winter period or the summer ? I personally prefer to train in the Autumn/Winter especially as part of my marathon training. Training for an April marathon can only mean that you will train in the winter - rewind to April last year when it was the hottest London Marathon on record - I know, I was there - it was hot, hot, hot !!


Do you find your energy levels decrease at this time of year, feeling more lethargic, wanting to just get indoors after work and relax in front of the TV. It's hard to fall into the trap of falling off the wagon. Try and get out to an exercise class at lunchtime or after work - other ideas include a brisk walk at lunchtime, walking the kids to and from school if you can park a short distance away. Go out for a run or walk in the evening with a friend - don't pound the streets in the dark on your own. Look for the healthier options and keep your hydration levels up.


Sleep and Nutrition are important. Ensure you get to bed at a reasonable time :-)


We are fast approaching Christmas with many social activities scheduled on the calendar. Again, where possible, go for the healthier options where possible, keeping fluids up (water of course, not alcohol :-)) to avoid dehydration.


Just making the smallest of changes can make such a difference.
